I totally agree with the origonal post. Speaking of "backing into a corner", or "avoiding the question"...

Instead of pretending that QR and XY aren't almost identical...i think the issue needs to be addressed early on before readers become restless again.

I think its total bullshit to say that only people (a good number of people) who have image/perception problems, disagree with the content. In the world of psychology, that was totally a genetic fallacy. Basically, by making the source (anyone who disagrees) as having the problem, then their views and comments are therefore invalid. Many people agree that its time to move on from the youth mags that revolve around sex and softcore porn.

If we want porn and sex, we either drive to some easy boys house, or we go to one of over 4,000 sites to jerk off.

These mags are suppose to offer what glbt youth AREN'T getting elsewhere. Intelligent magazines that don't need to use sex in every other article, would be a good start.

Every editor's comment, most articles, almost all advertisers and "resources sections" revolve around clubs, sex, or dating. When will someone finally stand up and remind the gay community that we not only have a brain...but that we also have most to our lives than boys/penis/drama!

And YES...whether you like it or not, mags like XY and QR ARE reinforcing negative stereotypes and beliefs. Young boys need to be encouraged to use their brains, and to explore the other facets of life.

Besides the fit models, what I can't stand is that they are all straight. Gay magazines keep reinforcing the idea that only straight people are attractive. I constantly see pictures of attractive STRAIGHT nobodies on the cover or in the magazine of gay publications. Why can't gay magazines find attractive GAY nobodies? Gay people have no role model in this regard.
